I can't help but giggle at the holidays that fall on the same date this month, like October 30 has Create a Great Funeral Day and Frankenstein Day. That just hits me as ironic. And personally, I think of Cathy Baker, a wonderful poet,  on October 1, Poetry Appreciation Day, Lisa Jordan on October 3 for Card Making Day, and finally, I can't help but remember Julia Tomiak on October 16, Dictionary Day. I just love her Diary of a Word Nerd blog

September 1 is Calendar Awareness Day and No Rhyme or Reason Day—‘nough said. September 4th is Bring Your Manners to Work Day and Hug Your Boss Day. Is it good manners to hug your boss?  September 13 is Defy Superstition Day and Fortune Cookie Day . . . hmmm. And September has three of my favorite holidays—the 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day, the 22nd is Hobbit Day, and the 24th is Punctuation Day.

July 7 is Tell the Truth Day and Global Forgiveness Day, I guess we can ask forgiveness for the telling the truth on the same day.  July 11 is World Population Day and Cheer Up the Lonely Day – have anyone looked at how many people are on this earth? July 20 is Get out of the Doghouse Day is the same day as Ugly Truck Day, hmmm I think I see the connection.

In addition, calendar days are great conversation starters for social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, especially when two contrasting holidays fall on the same date. Here are some that tickled my funny bone this month:

May sixth is National Teachers Day and No Homework Day. I wonder if that's for the teacher's benefit or the students? May eighth is No Socks Day, followed by May ninth, which is Lost Sock Memorial Day. Did someone lose a sock when they went without? May eighteenth is No Dirty Dishes Day and Visit Your Relatives Day—I definitely want them to visit when there aren't any dirty dishes in the sink!

Calendar Days—April's Crazy Holidays & Special Occasions—Idea Starters for Writers

by Edie Melson @EdieMelson

It’s time again for Calendar Days. These are just fun to read. They’re also a great way to jumpstart our creativity when looking for ideas for articles and blog posts. They’re also a fun writing prompt idea.

In addition, calendar days are great conversation starters for social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, especially when two contrasting holidays fall on the same date. Here are some that tickled my funny bone this month:

April 6, International Pillow Fight Day and Plan Your Epitaph Day—obviously these people are serious about their pillow fights!
Also, 7 is sending a good message—World Health Day and No Housework Day. I definitely think they’re onto something. LOL!
Finally, I think April 30 is sending us mixed messages. It’s Hairstyle Appreciation Day and National Honesty Day. Mixing those two could get someone in trouble.
