Trusting God for the Unseen

by Edie Melson @EdieMelson

I snapped the picture last year in the Rocky Mountain National Park. These magnificent views reminded me anew about the greatness of our God. I believe faith is important, but I also believe God gives us concrete moments to hang onto when our faith needs to stretch.

What do you think? How have your experiences strengthened your faith?

"All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." Ralph Waldo Emerson

Never Forget, Beauty is God's Handwriting—A Social Media Image to Share

It's easy to get caught up in the day to day of living life and forget to look up and see what's around us. Since returning home from our trip to Colorado, I've found myself more aware of the beauty in my every day life.

What helps remind you to stop and appreciate what's around you right now?

“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God’s handwriting—a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower,
and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Social Media Image—An Opener of Doors

A lot of what I try to do through this site and through teaching is to be an opener of doors. Others helped me get where I am today as a writer. I'd be pretty ungrateful if I wasn't willing to do that for others.

I believe most of you who read my blog do the same thing. You take what you learn and help those who aren't yet where you are. Take time today to thank someone who opened a door for you.

Social Media Image—What Adds Depth to Your Life, adds Depth to Your Writing

As I begin this new year, my thoughts turn to ways to make my life more meaningful. And it occurs to me that adding depth to my life will also add depth to my writing—not just through the richness of experience—although that's huge. But if I allow my characters to experience the same kind of richness that I seek, my stories will have an added color and depth.

What parallels do you see in living a life of depth and richness in your writing?

"It is not the length of of life, but the depth." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Social Media Image—The Pace of the Season

I love the holidays—the gatherings, the sparkle, most of all the gatherings of family. But even for me, there are times when the pace gets to be too much. I have to refocus on what's important and take a breather from all the chaos.

So I'm curious.
How do you cope with the pace of the season?

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
