Things to Remember When a Writer is Struggling

by Tammy Karasek @TickledPinkTam

Here we are, barely a month and a half into the new year and into our writing plans. Sad to say, I’ve already heard from a few writer friends in the midst of a writer’s struggle in one area or another. Some struggle with time management. Others with topics or stories to do next. The one that is more prevalent this year is the good enough mindset.

Struggles of a Writer

by Tammy Karasek @TickledPinkTam

I’m not sure where your mind is in regard to your writing at this point in the year, but I know many writers around me are struggling with the good enoughs. I know, that’s not a real word—but it sure is a real issue. I’ve heard too many times lately—I’m not good enough, I don’t know if I should be writing or who do I think I am calling myself a writer? I’m not excluding myself from this problem, either. Those words have flashed through my mind on occasion.

Make a Name for Myself? Or Make a Self for My Name?

Edie here. Today I'm excited to introduce you to the newest member of our blogging team here at The Write Conversation. I've been a fan of Rhonda's for years and I'm so excited to also call her my friend. I'm sure you'll be as blessed as me by her wit and wisdom.

Make a Name for Myself? Or Make a Self for My Name?
by Rhonda Rhea @RhondaRhea

Life as an author has enough unabashed self-promotion connected to it to make most normal people blush. Or at least make them a little uncomfortable. Me? I’ve tried repeatedly to convince my publisher that a life-sized cardboard cutout of me would be a good idea. Of course, mostly I’ve wanted to have it at a book-signing sometime just so I could say something like, “I’m so happy to be here that I’m beside myself.”

When Writing Turns Serious

by Martin Wiles @LinesFromGod

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father Colossians 3:17 NLT.

Stir up the gift within you, the voice whispered. I knew I had to stop messing around. It was time to get serious.

Weekend Worship—Whatever You Do in Word

by Allison Gentry

Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness...’ Genesis 1:26a (NASB)

As a writer, I love the fact God chose to write a Book to communicate all truth to us. Better yet, He chose to write a series of sixty-six books that together constitute the Bible. He is literally the bestselling author of all time!

When you and I write, we’re doing more than dabbling in a hobby or paying the bills—we’re imitating God’s likeness. Nothing else in all creation can communicate through the written word. Only mankind was fashioned after God’s image and given such distinctive, exceptional qualities. Painting, music and even a good work of fiction can only be accomplished and appreciated by mankind.
