Writing Prompt Image—What's Holding You Back?

Last week, I was at a low point, paralyzed by life's events. Jessica Kirkland, my agent, wrote a post on Facebook to encourage her clients. These were the last two lines she shared. God used these words to pull me out of my frozen state and reconnect me with the gift I was born to share. Her words reminded me that I wasn't even truly judging success or failure. My only measure can be obedience.

What about you?

What's holding you back?

Fear is not from God. So pick up your pen and WRITE.  ~ Jessica Kirkland

  2. Honestly? There's no good reason. Health issues slow me down and I have family responsibilities, but if I truly believe that God has called me to write (and I do) then there's no good reason not to write.

Thanks for the reminder, Edie. Your posts are like a glass of well water after a afternoon of mowing.

  5. That was convicting to me as well, Edie! I let too many things get in my way, but little of it is fear. It's usually the busy-ness of life and getting sidetracked with everything else. If I'm going to be published, I'm going to have to learn to be more focused. That's all there is to it.

    1. It's a tough lesson for all of us, and I'm not sure it gets a ton easier. There are always tough choices to be made. Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Love the pic. The thought that I am wasting my time is holding me back. But you are right. I only need to be in obedience to God. If it's in obedience, then it's not a waste. Thanks!

  7. Hi Edie, after enjoying your blog since I met you at our EMACW Writer's Conference in Covington last fall, I'm refusing to let this opportunity pass by without me thanking you. Thank you, thank you! I've been reading your blog, but have never left a comment. As a new writer, I'm learning volumes from your blogs and your guest bloggers. Being paralyzed by life events has keep me frozen, but not anymore. Thank you for being transparent and sharing.
