As writers, we have the opportunity to share a message for any who would come across the words we’ve tapped out on the keys. Whether a blog post or a book, our written words can be read by somebody, somewhere over and over and at any time. With this opportunity also comes the responsibility of what words we share.
What a privilege we have as writers to be able to speak truth and hope into others’ lives especially in our hurting world. We can share about the promises of God or even about how God has brought us through a difficult time. I don’t know about you, but I cherish encouraging words I’ve read in a book or even a post. Words that go deep and soothe my soul and also make me hunger more for God.
There are many sentences in books I’ve highlighted or underlined that the writer has shared that made my heart sing. Some writers have the ability to offer love, kindness and instruction within their words, which take us to a place of wholeness. When I come across those, I always thank God for giving those words, and the talent, to that specific writer to\hat spoke to me in a way that got through my thick head.
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 NIV
As we walk and work in the calling given to us by God, are we paying attention to what we say as well as howwe say it? We need to be careful and make sure that the messages we write will bring glory to Him, not us. As writers—writing from a Christian worldview—we need to be confident that what we write will bring the gospel of Christ front and center to the reader.
When we write books or posts on the Internet, we can use words to encourage someone that we may never have the chance to meet in person. What a wonderful thing that is. Sure, we can entertain them, but at the end of our brief time together, have we carefully chosen words to point them to our Savior? Our words can uplift them, enrich their life or maybe even make them smile. Are we giving them our best?
It doesn’t matter what you’re writing, but the words you choose are very important. Are they edifying, encouraging or loving? Even when words are needed for instruction or correction, with thought and prayer, they can be delivered in a way that will bring another person’s spirit up. Chosen well, the right words could make a person want to know more about this God that you speak of. And isn’t that the main purpose for our writing?
We need to pay attention to the words we are using. We need to take our time and choose our words wisely when trying to get our message across. When we sit down to write, let’s ask God to help us share His words for those that will see them.

Thank You for your word selection in this morning's post Ms. Tammy. What a wonderful blessing. Yes, the words we use matter. Often, I find myself wondering the source of many of my, and others', words. Are they worldly words, or are they from a Christ-centered worldview? Am so grateful I know your source this day. God's blessings ma'am.
