My Daddy Was a Traveling Man

by Edie Melson

Today is my second Father's Day ever without my dad.

Daddy passed away on December 4, 2015, and I still miss him like it was yesterday.

Today, in honor of him, I thought I'd share a short video with you.

  1. Edie, Thank you for sharing this personal part of your life. What a great man. My heart fills with joy when I see Dads being loving and kind. Mine was not. It gives me hope. Sending hugs and prayers to you this day. I am so thankful for the promise of heaven-to be reunited with our loved ones. (HUGS)

  3. Nice tribute. It reminds me of my own parents instilling their love of nature in me. Dad passed in 1996; Mom in 2010. These many years later, I continue to find new awareness of their virtues much of which they nurtured in me.

In the moment of the experience as in a camping trip, sometimes it's too easy to focus on things like words that came out too rough when a parent get annoyed w childish antics. Time, growing maturity, and longing for our missing loved one, brings the virtues Of The Experience front and Center. In a sense, I continue to feel closer to Mom and Dad after the passing and ever before.

Thank you for reminding me of one more virtue they instilled in me.

  8. Finally got to see this. What a great video. I just spent time at the Grand Canyon! It is amazing. I did a Facebook Live from there for my Bite of Bread. Thanks so much for sharing your special daddy with us. What a blessing.
