We are a people defined by contrast. We judge good by bad, abundance by lack, happy by sad. We can't even imagine one without the other—think I'm wrong? Try to picture a coin with only one side. Not possible, is it?

Your post reminds me of the prayer of St. Francis in which he juxtaposes the negatives of this world with the positives that we can bring to it. Thoughtful post, Edie!
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to remember the precious warmth when locked in the icy grip of a frigid winter. The good news is, eventually the memories of a sunshine filled sky jog the mind and winter is given the place it deserves; one season in four.
