Calendar Days—Holidays, Special Days & Downright Crazy Days in October

It's that time again—Calendar Days. I sure hope you all are enjoying this column as much as me. It's funny, as I research these each month, I think of so many of you.

For example, I think of Cathy Baker, a wonderful poet on October 3, Poetry Appreciation Day. And Lisa Jordan on October 5 for Card Making Day, and finally, I can't help but remember Julia Tomiak on October 16, Dictionary Day. I just love her Diary of a Word Nerd blog

And I can't help but giggle at the holidays that fall on the same date, like October 30 has Create a Great Funeral Day and Frankenstein Day. That just hits me as ironic.

I always share this info on the last Thursday of every month. So be sure to drop by. Today I’m going to continue with the upcoming crazy and normal holidays in the month of October.

Using the calendar for blog post or even article ideas is a great way to jumpstart your creativity. It's also a fun writing prompt idea.

Calendar days are also great conversation starters for social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

  1. October 16 is the day for my math final. Math has become all consuming and isn't my favorite subject. Felt like throwing up during my last test. Is there an appropriate celebration for that day that will send me off with a giggle?

  2. October 11 is perfect.. "It's my Party Day." It's my mom's birthday!

  3. I'm bookmarking this. Can't wait for Massage Therapy WEEK. The best way to celebrate is probably a massage EVERY DAY

  4. October 9th...Is that Leif Erikson the explorer or the actor? I used to have a huge poster of him on my wall when I was in middle school--the actor that is. I was over him by the time I reached high school so I don't guess I'll celebrate his day. However, I have never overcome my infatuation for chocolate cupcakes. So, October 18 it is. :)
