This is what I was doing last night. lol.

After several hours of staring at a blank screen, here's what I came up with. "Hero" will be the character's name, once I figure out what it is.

~The crack of rifle fire sent a shot of panic through Hero as he sat in his attorney office. What was happening? ~

It still isn't good enough for me, I don't know if it matches the tone of the tragic historical Christmas novel I'm writing, so I'll probably end up improving or rewriting it, but at least I have SOMETHING so that I can continue writing from that point. I'm not one of those that can just start writing random scenes. I have to write in sequence.

Thanks for the tips, this is exactly what I needed right now. :)

Amber SchamelAmber Lemushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17170040716112851191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907737240492304428.post-57819449869036616722014-10-29T00:27:55.155-04:002014-10-29T00:27:55.155-04:00I dread the first line, because it is so important...I dread the first line, because it is so important. It's what makes your reader want to keep reading. And with NaNo quickly approaching I'll be writing that first line soon.Tichel Reviewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06149257227958601087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907737240492304428.post-19937957406935118482014-10-29T00:07:45.798-04:002014-10-29T00:07:45.798-04:00That's a FANTASTIC first line! Both are so fabulous! So my first line (it's two sentences that go together) is: Amanya gave up her life on her fifth birthday. But first, there were games, and presents.

I like the first line, and by the end of the first chapter, what it means for "now" is explained, but it continues to resonate throughout the novel. jenmcjenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04239531131388642925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907737240492304428.post-19383304141211242052014-10-28T12:04:03.418-04:002014-10-28T12:04:03.418-04:00This is great!
