On April 4th I launch my SECOND picture book and companion audio book under my own imprint, Pageant Wagon Publishing. Oh--and that Podcast Never Door--that fell off the hinges last September. so much more to learn on both these fronts, but if I've come this far . . . I can go the distance--the Lord directing my steps.
Joy!
KathyMiss Kathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10535864559101763980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907737240492304428.post-27409623783196666372016-03-19T15:01:19.683-04:002016-03-19T15:01:19.683-04:00What a great post! I've walked through the NEV...What a great post! I've walked through the NEVER door many times, and each time an amazing blessing awaited me on the other side. The most salient example is the incident that launched my writing ministry.

I was seeking God's will about whether or not He had called me to write. During this time, I attended a workshop on writing light verse. I left the workshop saying that I would never write light verse because I am not naturally a funny person.

About a week later, the Lord gave me a humorous poem resulting from an argument between my two little girls. I submitted my poem to THE SATURDAY EVENING POST. I was a complete novice at this writing thing and had no clue about the difficulty of getting into that slick magazine.

Well, miracle of miracles, my poem was accepted! I viewed that acceptance as God's confirmation that He had called me to write for Him.

Since then, I continue to walk prayerfully through NEVER doors. As long as Holy Spirit leads the way, what I find behind the NEVER door is always a forever blessing.

MaryAnn
_________________________
MaryAnn Diorio, PhD, MFA
Truth through Fiction ®
www.maryanndiorio.com
The Madonna of Pisano
Surrender to Love
A Christmas Homecoming

When I write, I feel God’s pleasure.
MaryAnn Diorio, PhD, MFAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08728569035482554211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907737240492304428.post-74838865069667596612016-03-19T11:44:45.872-04:002016-03-19T11:44:45.872-04:00My wife "dragged" me to a writers guild ...My wife "dragged" me to a writers guild meeting almost 10 years ago with the understanding that OK, I'd go - but that I'd never write anything. Being exposed to beginning writers and accomplished authors soon had even me entering poetry and prose contests just to be a good sport about it. Then my interest in writing well grew a little. Attending workshops, studying the craft, and being around writers fanned a spark I did not even know existed in me. Soon sharing the joy of others' progress and successes became as exciting as my own. I should own a shelf full of spices, because I now eat those decade-old words regularly. I've been teaching for the last 13 years and speaking for 9. I've spoken from coast to coast at everything from graduations and funerals to national blogging and homeschool conferences, and a whole lot in between. I even wrote a chapter in a book for speakers! And guess what. It's still scary! By the way, I omitted the word "never" from my vocabulary. I said I would never want to be a radio announcer. I worked in Christian radio for 12 years. I also thought I would never write fiction. My son and I are working on a fiction novel right now. I love when God opens those "never" doors and shows us something so beautiful.truthtoshine.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05911184699045569514noreply@blogger.com
