  1. Mom read to me all the time and it's a cherished gift from her that I will always have. I worked hard to pass that on to my girls and both of them love to read. I still love to read but Charlie just retired and I'm having trouble getting my time back. I need to go sit in my rocker and read!

  2. Inspiration--when we first began teaching our children at home I was told by a well-meaning family member, you can't teach your kids everything. My reply? No one person can teach kids everything, all we can do is inspire them to learn. Books do that, and it is important to have good book 'friends' to inspire us and others.
