Life Lessons—Bigger Than Me

by Reba J. Hoffman, Ph.D

There comes a time in a person’s life when they have to do something that is much bigger than they are. Do something that will make a huge impact in the lives of others. To make a difference.

I’m hours away from doing that in my own life. I’m packing and preparing for departure on a solo, self-contained bicycle tour from Appalacia to the west coast. I’ll pedal thousands of miles over America’s heartland, all for a purpose.

Freedom.

There are countless numbers of women who have survived horrific violent assaults. Today, they find themselves locked away in the prison in their minds. Every day and through agonizing hours in darkness, they battle Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

They have dreams, goals and plans that remain unlived because they are gripped by terror. It is for them that I will ride what I’ve come to refer to as the Road to Freedom.

All along the journey, I’ll chronicle the events and insights on my blog. My hope and prayer is that my journey will help these women muster the courage to walk down their own road to freedom.

I’ll also be penning a book while on the road about the experience. It will include my own story of a violent attack and ensuing battle with PTSD. I was fortunate to have an incredible team of professionals and I overcame. Many women have yet to experience that.

The battle against fear of all types is winnable. Perhaps you don’t have PTSD but you are afraid to step out in the gift God has given you to be His pen. You clearly see what you want to accomplish but the grip of fear holds you back.

My journey is for you as well. Regardless of where you are in your life journey, you can take this one with me. I invite you to follow along with me at www.RebaJHoffman.com.

We’ll have laughs, and perhaps shed a few tears as our hearts are touched. We’ll work through calamity and bask in the glory of this nation we call America. You and I will meet people from all walks of life and will learn so many different customs.

Would you help spread the word about this journey on what I’ve come to call the Road to Freedom? Together, we can set people free from PTSD and other fears. I need your partnership. This is bigger than me.

I’ll still contribute Fridays here on The Write Conversation and look forward to continuing to give you precious golden nuggets of truth and wisdom.

Thanks for the journey!
