Steampunk has two main characteristics...Not really. Steampunk has two main characteristics, steam-driven devices and victorian setting. It can be an alternative history or even scifi, but has to have a strong victorian vibe. The fairy tale/fable thing is just my idea. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is another movie with the steampunk feel.
