Rest

By Edie Melson @EdieMelson

How do you find rest? Kirk and I live to retreat to the mountains- or sometimes the seaside.

  1. My husband and I head to the woods or the mountains. We're fortunate to live close to both.

  2. Edie, I love to walk. I also rest by listening to a good book.

  3. We love to slip away to the beach. There's just something about the ocean that does a soul good. Year round, too. As a matter of fact, I almost prefer it in the winter. Nothing like watching the sun rise from the sand with coffee in hand!

  4. I love the beach. But, when I can get to the mountains, I love going there too. Both give me rest.

  5. the great outdoors. when i can, i get away to the park or the mountains, or the beach, but when i can't get away, i sit on my front porch. i sits and meditates, and sometimes, i just sits! i watch the trees and my mind wanders, it's so relaxing and refreshing

  6. I love to sit on the beach with a good book and the rhythm of the waves ebbing and flowing in the background. But during a long high stress career, I learned the value of creating small places of rest between the bigger getaways. Savoring an uninterrupted 10 minute cup of coffee on my patio. Nipping outside for a 5 minute walk around the block between meetings to smell fresh air. Sipping chamomile tea on a long flight. The practice of creating the miniature sabbath rests all year long makes the big ones even better!
